FAQs

How do I know if my physiotherapist is fully qualified to treat me?

All qualified physiotherapists should be registered with the Chartered Society of Physiotherapists and the Health Professions Council. If you want to check if your therapist is registered with these bodies please follow the links below:

www.csp.org.uk.

What do I need to wear?

You do not need to wear any specific clothing for therapy. Just make sure you are comfortable.

How many sessions will I need?

We do not specify an exact number of treatments for most of our therapies because each individual will respond differently. After your therapist has assessed you they will be able to give you an idea of the anticipated number of treatments. One exception to this rule is for constraint induced movement therapy (CIMT). Unlike most physiotherapy treatments CIMT is run over a very short time period (2 weeks). However, during these two weeks you can see a therapist every weekday (10 sessions). The therapist will also develop a number of tasks for you to do unsupervised throughout the day.

Do I need to be referred by a doctor?

You can refer yourself for physiotherapy. If you plan to use medical insurance to fund your treatment you may need to get a GP`s authorization and so it is important to check this on your policy.

What do I do between my therapy sessions?

To get the most out of your therapy programmes you will normally need to do additional exercises outside of the therapy sessions. Your therapist will tailor your exercises to suit your hobbies and amount of free time.
